MADISON —First lady Tonette Walker met with First lady Michelle Obama prior to Michelle Obama’s visit with the family members of the victims and those seriously injured in the shooting at Oak Creek’s Sikh Temple Thursday, August 23rd.

In a statement, Walker had the following to say regarding the visit: “Today I welcomed First Lady Obama to Wisconsin.  It was a pleasure to visit with her, and as always she was gracious and kind.  Her willingness to reach out to those in the Sikh community to help them heal will not only help those affected but also help eliminate the ignorance that led up to the horrific event in Oak Creek.  I appreciate her presence in Wisconsin.”
