Dee Snider gets hate mail after denouncing Paul Ryan's use of song

Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider says he's been receiving plenty of "hate mail" via social media. The songwriter recently denounced the Paul Ryan campaign for using his band's signature hit "We're Not Gonna Take It" to pump up the crowd at rallies.

Snider clarifies that he never demanded Ryan's team stop using the song.

"I've been deep in shooting this second season of Holliston for Fear.Net, and a call came from my record company making me aware that he had used it at a campaign stop and the press inquiry, how I felt about it. I've never stopped anyone from using 'We're Not Gonna Take It,' and it's used for everything -- commercials and political rallies. Tea parties use 'We're Not Gonna Take It' forever at their rallies, but everything I've heard come out of this guy's mouth, besides he uses P90X, which I use as well, I've disagreed with. I just wanted to distance myself. I didn't say he couldn't use it, I just denounced his use of it, and being the songwriter, and the guy who sang it, it had a lot of weight," Snider said.

Snider says he has no party affiliation. He says he's voted Republican, Democrat and Independent over the years.

As soon as Snider's concerns were raised last week, the Ryan camp issued a statement saying "We're not gonna play it anymore."
