Man arrested following two bomb threats in Shorewood Monday

SHOREWOOD -- Shorewood police say a man was arrested following a bomb threat at an assisted living facility Monday evening, August 27th. Police say this same man was involved in a bomb threat made to Shorewood's Village Hall earlier Monday.

Police evacuated 600 from the River Park Apartment buildings after bomb-sniffing dogs checked the buildings. The buildings house elderly and disabled individuals.

"A lot of nice people live here. She said 'you have to evacuate now.' I didn't have time to put my groceries away. They're still sitting in my cart," one resident said.

"It scared me to death. He was acting strange. They said 'that's him,' and they handcuffed him behind his back," another resident said.

Police say the man had been known to visit the facility. Police say on Monday, he was intoxicated, and at the facility with a friend. Both were kicked out Monday, according to police.

Milwaukee County's Bomb Squad and bomb-sniffing dogs were called in to assist with the search.

No bomb or suspicious package was located at either facility.

Residents were allowed back into the assisted living facility before 7:00 p.m.

FOX6 News is not naming the man arrested because he has not yet been formally charged. Police say he does not live in the building involved in Monday's bomb threat, but according to court documents, he called the complex home last year and was evicted from another location this year.
