Sheboygan prosecutors charge man in online nude photos scheme

SHEBOYGAN -- Prosecutors in Sheboygan arrested a man they say forced a woman to send him naked pictures of herself through Facebook. They think he was basically controlling her via computer.

Sheboygan County Assistant District Attorney Joel Urmanski says 21-year-old Dalton Vandeloo used several online aliases to pull off an elaborate scheme.

"Right now, he is charged with multiple counts, with what basically amounts to extortion. It is a vile, disgusting act," Urmanski said.

A criminal complaint says Vandeloo sent out random messages on Facebook telling women he would pay for nude photos. A 19-year-old from Sheboygan took the bait.

"The girl decided she could use the money and sent the photograph. He then created a website posting her photograph, and started the communications for a number of months that she needed to perform a number of additional acts," Urmanski said.

Prosecutors say Vandeloo demanded graphic sex acts from the woman, or said he'd tell her family. Prosecutors say each request came with a promise the pictures would be deleted.

Neighbors say they didn't think Vandeloo even owned a computer. He was banned from having one after spending three months in jail for a similar crime.

Eventually, the woman went to police. Vandeloo was arrested during an undercover sting operation on North 22nd Street where a meetup for sex ended with cops finding the online predator hiding on a roof.

"There are a lot of people out there that will take advantage, whether you are a child, or an adult, like we have in this case," Urmanski said.

After searching the man's computer, investigators found at least two other women who were preyed upon.

If convicted, Vandeloo could spend 55 years in prison.
