Sheriff's deputies say 18-year-old terrorized by pit bull

FOND DU LAC -- Fond du Lac County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Greenwood Lane in the Town of Osceola for a dog bite victim. An investigation uncovered an 18-year-old boy bound by the ankles, hung from a rafter and terrorized by a pit bull.

Investigators say the 18-year-old had puncture wounds all over his body and was transported to the hospital.

After that, the story of what really happened at the home started to unfold.

"Through the course of the investigation, deputies learned the homeowner turned the dog onto the 18-year-old as result of him getting accused of stealing from him," Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Lt. Cameron McGee said.

McGee says the attack continued for at least an hour.

"The dog was set on this 18-year old multiple times, and subsequently the 18-year old was bound by his ankles, strung up to a rafter on the outside porch and left to hang upside down while the dog continued to attack him," McGee said.

The attack, according to authorities, happened as the teen's father watched.

"The father of this 18-year-old really didn't do anything to stop it, didn't do anything to prevent it and at times actually participated in it," McGee said.

Authorities are recommending the men be charged with false imprisonment, negligent handling of a dangerous weapon -- in this case the dog -- and aggravated battery, among other crimes.

McGee says this wasn't a random attack. Instead, this dog was trained specifically to attack like it did.

The 18-year-old was treated and released, and is expected to be okay. The dog is being held in quarantine at the Fond du Lac Humane Society.
