Officials identify man who jumped into Milwaukee River Wednesday

MILWAUKEE -- Officials on Thursday, September 13th identified the man who died in the Milwaukee River Wednesday, as well as those who tried to save his life.

20-year-old Devonte Moffett jumped into the river near the Knapp Street Bridge.

According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's report, Moffett had a history of mental illness and drug use.

Two Good Samaritans saw Moffett jump in and tried to save him. They were rescued by nearby construction workers.

Moffett was pulled out of the water by the Milwaukee Fire Department and died at the hospital.
