MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say their investigation into the shooting of a police officer continues, as detectives continue to conduct numerous witness interviews and gather the facts as to what occurred.

Police say they will be seeking charges against a 24-year-old suspect for Recklessly Endangering Safety for shooting the officer with an officer’s gun.

Police say two uniformed officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 4800 block of N. 21st St. and while in the area, two suspects began to argue with the officers.

The argument led to a physical struggle between the officers and the suspects.

During the struggle, one officer was shot in the leg. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

MPD says both suspects are in custody.

The officer injured in the incident is 24 years old and has two years of service as a police officer. He was treated for his injury and was released.

The suspects are ages 24 and 39. The 39-year-old has a criminal arrest record for recklessly endangering safety, battery and drug charges. The 24-year-old has an arrest record for operating after revocation.

Police say portions of the struggle were videotaped by a citizen with a cell phone.
