South Milwaukee man arrested in undercover sting operation

SOUTH MILWAUKEE -- A 19-year-old South Milwaukee man is in police custody for allegedly having sexual activity with a 12-year-old girl.

The suspect is charged with two counts of 1st Degree Sexual Assault of a Child - Under 13, and one count of Manufacturing of THC (Marijuana).

Police were first tipped off about the alleged crime on September 13th. That's when a citizen witness contacted police. That person indicated a 12-year-old girl had been involved sexually with the suspect who she met via social media over the internet.

Using this information an undercover sting operation was conducted and the South Milwaukee man was arrested on Tuesday, September 18th, when he arrived at a location in South Milwaukee for what he thought was going to be a sexual encounter with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl he had been texting.

Following the arrest, the 12-year-old girl told police she had been sexually assaulted by this same suspect after having met him over the internet.

A search warrant was executed at the suspect’s South Milwaukee residence on Wednesday, September 19th. Computers, cameras and other items were recovered from the home. Police also uncovered a marijuana growing operation in the suspect’s bedroom closet.

Police say at this time there is no reason to believe that there were other victims, but the investigations will continue to make certain.
