Single-engine plane crash lands in Kenosha, pilot uninjured

KENOSHA -- Kenosha Sheriff's officials and Kenosha fire officials responded following a single-engine plane crash at the Kenosha County Detention Center Thursday afternoon, September 27th.

The twin-engine 1968 Beecher aircraft crash reportedly occurred just before 2:30 p.m.

Officials say the plane was taking off from the Kenosha Municipal Airport, which is across from the detention center.  The airplane failed to gain altitude and crash landed in a grassy area.

The airplane was several hundred feet from the Detention Facility structure.  The integrity of the building and the security of the facility were never at risk of being compromised, according to a statement from officials.

Officials say one of the wings of the plane hit a tree, causing the plane to spin around.

The pilot was the sole occupant of the airplane and was uninjured.

The FAA is being contacted for an investigation.
