Man convicted of multiple offenses in 1980s will remain in custody

SHEBOYGAN (AP) -- A 52-year-old inmate convicted of multiple sexually violent offenses in the 1980s in Sheboygan County will remain in custody.

Scott McKeever has been committed under Wisconsin's sexually violent person's law following a jury trial last week.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice filed the state's petition to commit McKeever to treatment on April 5.

The jury found McKeever suffers from a mental condition that predisposes him to engage in acts of sexual violence.

The verdict means McKeever will remain in the care of the state Department of Health Services until he is no longer considered sexually violent.

According to the Department of Justice, McKeever was convicted of multiple sexually violent offenses in the late 1980s.

He's currently at the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center in Mauston.
