Hooper pleads not guilty to "failure to report death of child" charge

WAUKESHA CO. -- Kevin Hooper waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to a charge of "failure to report death of child" in Waukesha County on Thursday, October 18th.

Hooper faces that charge because his wife, Dana, faces a first-degree intentional homicide charge for allegedly killing her 10-week-old baby on September 15th.

A criminal complaint in the case says a Medical Examiner’s report indicated the baby died due to a large number of stab wounds to the chest and torso area.

Dana Hooper told officials neither she, nor her husband had called authorities after the baby was killed — but instead went to the hospital to check Dana Hooper in for psychiatric help.

If convicted, Hooper faces up to three-and-a-half years in prison and $10,000 in fines. He's scheduled to be back in court on November 19th.
