60 schools to decorate Cathedral Square Park for holidays beginning Friday

MILWAUKEE -- 60 schools throughout Milwaukee will participate in the decorating of downtown Milwaukee's Cathedral Square Park for the holidays beginning Friday, November 9th.

School children will work to transform the park into "Community Spirit Park."

Each school will have a tree to decorate -- representing a class theme or wish demonstrated through handmade ornaments.

The decorating takes place November 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th and 14th.

2,000 students are expected to participate in the holiday decorating.

Cathedral Square Park is one of three downtown Milwaukee parks decorated for the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival.

Lights at Cathedral Square Park, Pere Marquette Park and Zeidler Union Square will officially be turned on at the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival kickoff extravaganza at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15th.

The free family event will feature Santa, holiday acts, live music, a fireworks display and free Jingle Bus rides.

Holiday decorations will remain lit through Monday, December 31st.
