Milwaukee's Westown Farmer's Market heads indoors

MILWAUKEE -- Shoppers can now enjoy the unique vendors at the Westown Farmer's Market INDOORS -- at the Shops of Grand Avenue.

"We started doing this just to start bringing a little more foot traffic into the mall and just continue our already successful market," Marissa Miller with the Westown Association said.

The Westown Farmer's Market and the Shops of Grand Avenue started this partnership about five years ago. 25 vendors have now set up shop at the mall.

"It just extends our season and it`s warm and dry rather than being in the rain or being too cold as it has been this fall," Doug Gutenkunst of Cowboy Kettle Corn said.

Jake's Deli has been so successful, they're staying at Grand Avenue permanently.

"It`s worked out so well, we`re actually going to be a store front now. Come December 1st we`ll be out here selling sandwiches full time," Samuel Martin with Jake's Deli said.

The addition of the market in the mall also adds some variety for holiday shoppers.

"It`s convenient for me to get to and I can do my Christmas shopping here because I find stuff here that I don`t normally find at stores, so it`s very nice," shopper Marian Cochrane said.

The market also helps to highlight what the mall has to offer.

"We have 10 new stores, which is why this year we called it the indoor and in-store market, so it also gives a lot of exposure to all of our new stores," Tracy Korpela with the Shops of Grand Avenue said.

The market takes place every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until December 19th.
