MILWAUKEE -- Some retailers are opening their doors on Black Friday earlier than ever this year! Black Friday is sure to be crazy -- with shoppers fighting for doorbuster and one-day deals, so it's good to have a strategy and game plan! FOX6's Contact 6 has some tips for those getting started on their Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving is officially over!

JC Penny's is set to open at 6:00 a.m. on Black Friday -- while Wal-Mart, Sears and Toys 'R Us will open at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving night! Target is set to open at 9:00 p.m. Thursday.

Best Buy, Sports Authority, Macy's and Kohl's will open at midnight on Black Friday.

Some say these earlier-than-ever start times are a bad idea, and infringe on the true meaning of the Thanksgiving holiday -- time with family.

"I don't like it. I'm not going to go out on my Thanksgiving Day," one person told FOX6's Contact 6.

FOX6's Contact 6 discovered ways to cash in on the Black Friday deals without having to go out at all! says 70% of the in-store Black Friday deals can be found online for the same, or even a better price. also says shoppers shouldn't forget about the freebies just for going to the store. Some of the first customers in line at Old Navy will be offered a free copy of Wii Mario Brothers -- a $60 value for spending $40 on clothes. Sam's Club will offer a free cup of Starbucks coffee and a pastry to shoppers.

Contact 6 offers these tips to Black Friday/Cyber Monday shoppers:

  • Check out the ads in advance
  • Shop before you shop, and make a list
  • Know what other stores are offering on the same product, to save time (many stores will match the price

For those who can't make it out on Black Friday -- cash is always a great gift, especially considering the deals that come after the holidays!
