Giants snap Packers' five-game winning streak with 38-10 victory

NEW JERSEY -- The Green Bay Packers hit the road in Week 12 of NFL regular season play to take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, November 25th. The Giants led the Packers 31-10 at halftime, and ended up snapping the Packers' five-game winning streak. The final score was 38-10.

Sunday's game was a meeting of the two most recent Super Bowl champions. The Packers were 7-3 on the season, and the Giants 6-4 heading into Sunday's game.

The matchup began with a Giants 74-yard touchdown drive. The big play of the six-play drive was a 59-yard pass to Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw.

Then, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed a 61-yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson.

From there, the Giants took control of the game. 

Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Rueben Randle, ending a 55-yard Giants drive. Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes completed a 43-yard field goal kick for the extra point. 

In the second quarter, Manning capped a 61-yard Giants' drive with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Victor Cruz in the second quarter. The Giants then led the game, 24-7.

The Packers then took over, for a six-minute drive that ended with a 28-yard field goal from Packers kicker Mason Crosby, who has struggled as of late. Crosby missed a 55-yard field goal earlier in the game -- marking his eighth miss in his last 14 attempts.

Packers' Rodgers was sacked three times in the second quarter. A fumble was recovered by Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul with just over a minute to go in the first half of the game.

Then, it was a pass from Manning to Randle, to the 13-yard line. Then, Bradshaw scored, bring the score at the end of the half to Giants 31, Packers 10.

After a 24-20 win over the Detroit Lions in Michigan this past Sunday (following a bye), the Packers were tied with the Broncos for the longest current winning streak in the NFL. With Chicago’s loss at San Francisco on Monday night, the Packers and Bears sat atop the NFC North with 7-3 marks. The Packers beat the Bears in Green Bay in Week 2 and the teams will meet in Chicago in Week 15.

The Packers and Giants also met in a NFC Divisional playoff contest last season at Lambeau Field, one that was won by New York, 37-20. Two of the most venerable franchises in professional football history, the Packers and Giants have combined for 21 championships. Green Bay ranks No. 1 among all NFL franchises with 13 titles, while the Giants check in at No. 3 with eight championships.

The Packers and Giants last met on December 4th of last year at MetLife Stadium, where the Packers won, 38-35.

With just less than a minute remaining, QB Aaron Rodgers led the offense on a five-play, 68-yard drive to set up Mason Crosby’s game-winning 31-yard field goal as time expired. With Detroit’s loss to New Orleans later that night, Green Bay clinched their first NFC North title since 2007.
