Timothy Russell, charged in John Doe probe to enter plea Thursday

MILWAUKEE -- A former aide to Gov. Scott Walker is set to enter a plea on Thursday, November 29th in an embezzling case that came to light following a John Doe probe into some of the aides to Gov. Walker while he served as Milwaukee's County Executive.

Timothy Russell was Walker's deputy chief of staff when Walker was Milwaukee County executive. Russell is charged with stealing more than $21,000 from a nonprofit Walker asked him to lead.

Russell's attorney asked the case be dismissed over an issue with a previous attorney, but a judge denied it and ordered Russell to stand trial.

The jury trial was set to begin Dec. 3rd.

It is unclear at this time how Russell is expected to plead on Thursday.

Five other Walker associates have also been charged in connection with this John Doe probe. Two were convicted -- one of stealing more than $51,000 in donations for veterans and their families; and the other of doing campaign work at her county job.

Walker hasn't been charged.
