Fire causes $150,000 in damage at Signicast in Hartford

HARTFORD -- Eight people suffered smoke inhalation following a fire at Signicast in Hartford Tuesday morning, November 27th.

Fire officials were called out just before 10:00 a.m., and the situation was resolved by noon.

Fire officials say the fire began in a machine and was also running through the machine's duct work to a second machine. Two machines and the duct work were damaged.

Officials estimate total damage at $150,000.

A portion of the plant was evacuated during the fire, but the workers normally assigned to the part of the plant affected were moved to other work stations elsewhere in the plant.

Signicast is an injection mold company that makes molds for use in the plastic and wax injection process.
