Man arrested for threats that led to closure of Marcia P. Coggs Center

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say an individual has been arrested following threats made by a suspect via social media Tuesday morning, November 27th. The threats were reportedly directed at the area of 12th and Vliet, and led to the early closure of the Marcia P. Coggs Center.

Police say there was no direct threat made to the Marcia P. Coggs Center, but Milwaukee County officials made the decision to close the building at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said they were seeking a suspect who is familiar to the department for "similar activities in the past."

A spokesman for Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele said employees would be paid for a full day's work.

There were signs on the doors and hundreds of people leaving when Deangelo Barron got to the Marcia P. Coggs building on Tuesday afternoon.

"I don't see the logic in any of it," Barron said.

Over 600 county and state workers got emails saying: "The Milwaukee County Executive ordered the building to close due to a public safety threat."

"That's the reason I couldn't feed my family yesterday, because of some idiot on Facebook," Barron said.

The man arrested faces disorderly conduct charges.
