Brookfield Chamber creates fund to help businesses deal with tragedy

BROOKFIELD -- FOX6's media partners at the Brookfield Patch report the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce has established a fund to help businesses in the Brookfield community deal with workplace tragedy. The first of the proceeds are set to benefit the Azana Salon & Spa.

Three were killed and four were injured in the August shooting. 45-year-old Radcliffe Haughton entered the salon and opened fire, killing his estranged husband and two others, and injuring four -- before Haughton turned the gun on himself.

"The Chamber acknowledges the need for the funds already established to help the victims and their families, and the Chamber board of directors felt it important to show their support to the business owner and the re-establishing of her business in the community,” Carol White, the chamber's president, told the Patch in a statement.

Contributions to the fund can be made at any North Shore Bank location under the name "Brookfield Chamber Business Disaster Recovery Fund."
