MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee, Wisconsin has been named one of the Top 10 Dirtiest Cities in America! This, according to Forbes.com, who published the list based on EPA reports.

Milwaukee comes in at the 10th dirtiest city in America, due to “decades of heavy industrial development along the Milwaukee River that has contributed to significant amounts of PCBs and heavy metals polluting groundwater and draining towards Lake Michigan.”

Additionally, the report ranks the Milwaukee-Waukesha metro area 20th for short-term particle pollution The 1.5 million residents of the Milwaukee-Waukesha metro endure air that’s ranked 20th for short-term particle pollution.

Milwaukee is the only Midwestern city to appear in the Top 10.

The nation’s dirtiest city, according to the report, is Fresno, California — due to poor air quality and water supply.
