Wave topple the Chicago Soul, 9-2

CHICAGO -- The Wave capitalized on their offensive opportunities defeating the Chicago Soul 9-2 at the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago. Nick Vorberg had a standout performance while the Wave’s offensive attack was a team effort with four different players scoring tonight.

Luan Oliveira opened the scoring for the Wave. It was the only goal of the first quarter as the Wave held off Chicago’s attack. The Wave expanded their lead to 4-0 when Hewerton found the back of the net in the second quarter. Vorberg and the Wave defense held the Soul scoreless in the first half despite the Soul’s pressure and the Wave went into half time up 4-0.

Marcio Leite struck a 3-point goal increasing the Wave’s lead to 7-0 in the third quarter. Carlos Farias put the Soul on the board cutting the Wave’s lead to 7-2. The Wave’s Joe Hammes scored the final goal of the night giving the Wave a 9-2 win. The Wave improved to 4-2 for the season and are currently in third place in the MISL.

The Wave’s next home game is December 22nd.
