Vigil held for victims of Newtown shooting at Oak Creek Sikh Temple

OAK CREEK -- Members of Oak Creek's Sikh Temple are all too familiar with the feeling of loss involved with a mass shooting.

They've been offering constant prayer for the Connecticut community, including a special vigil held Sunday night, December 16th.

Nearly 200 people gathered for prayer and to send their condolences to the victims.

Everyone signed a banner they plan to send to Newtown. Sikh Temple members lighted candles in remembrance -- both for the Connecticut school shooting victims and the Oregon mall shooting victims.

"Having a vigil is just the beginning. Having people together to pray, their energy, have that sent over to them in whatever way, shape we can. We made a banner to send our love," Sikh Temple member Kanwardeep Singh Kaleka said.

The group then held prayer and children who lost their parents in the Sikh Temple shooting read aloud the names of the children killed in the massacre in Connecticut.
