Woman struck, killed by vehicle on Grange Ave. in Greendale

GREENDALE -- 82-year-old Beatrice Salo was struck and killed by a car at 68th and Grange in Greendale on Monday evening, December 17th.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. at the intersection -- which is just a few blocks east of Southridge Mall.

Officials tell FOX6 News the 21-year-old driver was heading west on Grange at the time of the collision. He is being cooperative with authorities.

The victim was in the crosswalk at the time of the crash -- and the traffic signal was apparently green. Officials say the victim was close to her home -- but they weren't sure whether she was walking to or from her residence.

Video surveillance from a fixed traffic video camera at that intersection shows the pedestrian crossing Grange Ave. in the crosswalk wearing dark clothing. The traffic control signal for West Grange Ave. was green as indicated by the driver at the time of the collision.

Officials will release the name of the victim once relatives have been notified.
