Time Warner Cable employees give Christmas gifts to 13 families

MILWAUKEE -- Christmas came early to more than a dozen needy families in Milwaukee, thanks to the generous employees of Time Warner Cable!

On Tuesday, there was a big gift giveaway at the Journey House on the city’s south side.  Employees from different departments chose to hand-deliver hundreds of presents to 13 families, who would not have been able to afford presents or even basic needs for their loved ones during the holidays.

“To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure.  They would've never been able to get anything like this without their help,” said Christina Miller, a mother of three young kids.

Times have been tough for Miller, but this Christmas will be much brighter due to the help of warehouse employees that decided to forgo company gift exchanges and instead adopt her family.

“It's touching.  It's very, very deep down touching.  It really is.  They are part of us.  They really are. Everybody at work calls me their aunt now,” said Time Warner Cable employee Sheila Barnes.

From warm winter clothes, to kitchen supplies and toys, a total of more than $5,500 worth of gifts were distributed Tuesday.

“I appreciate everything.  I have no words to say.  Thank you,” said Elizabeth Perez.

The young parent cried as she met her generous sponsors.

“My mom doesn't have a job and I just lost my job this week, so I told her this is going to be our Christmas gift.  Thank you,” Perez said.

For so many of the families, that was the same reaction.  It’s a heartfelt sign of gratitude.  A Christmas no one there can forget.

“The memories that we're going to have forever means so much for me and my family,” said Miller.

Time Warner Cable has adopted Journey House families for Christmas for the last six years.
