Landscapers welcome season's first storm with open arms

MILWAUKEE -- They need snow to profit. That's because snow removal is the second half of a landscaper's business. Now, landscapers everywhere are welcoming the season's first storm with open arms.

Rich Bodart and his plowing company are eager to hit the road once the snow begins to pile up.

"It gives a little bit of joy for the guys who are the switch hitters to go through lean and now we'll have something exciting," said Bodart.

The new snow is especially important to Bodart because his team's lawn mowers sat in a pickup for much of the summer because of drought. The company may have lost thousands of dollars because there was little rain.

"As much as I would like it to say I want to make up for all of the losses from summer... that would be very unrealistic, you'd have really a lot of unhappy customers," said Bodart.

Bodart's team is now ready with snow blowers, salt spreaders, shovels and of course an ample of amount of salt for what's anticipated to be the first substantial snowfall of December.
