Last-minute Christmas shoppers rush to stores at Southridge Mall

GREENDALE -- The weekend before Christmas and shoppers are rushing to the stores for last-minute shopping.

"I have nothing done, I just started," shopper Laurie Hamilton said.

She still has to buy Christmas gifts for her entire family.  It's a position she says she's been in before.

"I just get in and get out early," she said.

Department stores like Macy's and Toys R' Us say they are trying to accommodate.

They have marathon hours all weekend.

"This is our final one day sale and we are open 65 hours this weekend.  We opened at 7 a.m. Friday and we will close at midnight Sunday," Macy's store manager Jennifer Duffy said.

She says there are a lot of customers at nearly every hour.

"We're seeing a bit more men this weekend than we usually do," Duffy said.

Shoppers say it's all about strategy and finding deals.

"I have a handful of coupons for Macy's, Kohl's and Penny's.  It's the best time to use them," Hamilton said.

And shoppers say that it's all about finishing up early and focusing on more important things.

"I have one less day ," Hamilton said. "And I still have to bake."
