Business owners thankful for last week's snowfall

MILWAUKEE -- The first measurable snowfall of the season fell on Thursday, December 20th, and Milwaukee-area business owners are rejoicing -- thankful for the early Christmas present.

The snow was a mess, and a workout for some, as they struggled to dig out. However, once the snow was shoveled up, Sunday provided an opportunity for some to get out and enjoy it!

Nicholas and Jake Hmielwski from Milwaukee spent their second straight day on the sledding hill at Currie Park on Sunday -- pushing off and spinning down the hill with dozens of others.

However, it is not just kids who are enjoying this snow!

Scott Moser is the supervisor at REI in Brookfield, an outdoor sporting goods store. Moser says last year was a tough one for the company, with such little snow. This season was slow as well, until Thursday.

"We enjoy the snow. It doesn't get much better than this! Compared to last year, this is night and day. Mother Nature is our calling. We need it to be bad. Bad weather, we like," Moser said.

The snowfall brought Aaron Herrera to the store on Sunday. The five-year-old decided to ditch his snowboard for skis.

"I keep falling back from the snowboard. My boots didn't fit," Herrera said.

After some adjusting, Herrera found the perfect fit.

Moser says the snow has provided a much-needed boost in business during the holiday season.

"The snow just benefits our business tremendously," Moser said.
