SHEBOYGAN — A 43-year-old Sheboygan man was taken into custody by Chicago police after he allegedly robbed Fischer’s Food & Liquor located at 4554 S. 12th Street in Sheboygan on Sunday, January 6th.

According to police, the 43-year-old suspect entered the store at approximately 7:30 p.m., demanded money, threatened the store clerk and then pushed him to the ground, before fleeing the scene with beer, cigars and approximately $300.

The Fischer’s Food & Liquor clerk, who recognized the suspect as a previous customer, assisted police in identifying the 43-year-old man. A search warrant was then served at 962 Weeden Creek Road in Sheboygan. Sheboygan police then contacted police in Illinois after learning the suspect may have fled to the Chicago area.

Authorities say the 43-year-old suspect has been located and taken into custody by Chicago police. He is currently being held in the Cook County Jail awaiting extradition proceedings.
