Kenosha's Wilson Elem. School safely dismissed after lockdown

KENOSHA -- Students from Wilson Elementary School in Kenosha were safely dismissed at 3:25 p.m. on Monday, January 7th. The dismissal came after the school was put on lockdown around 3 p.m. because police say a suspect was barricaded in a home near the school.

The standoff is related to a weekend shooting that police were seeking this person for.

Officials were able to arrest a 36-year-old man about three hours after the standoff began (by 3:15 p.m.). Officials initially arrived at the home around 12:15 p.m.

Normal dismissal time for Wilson Elementary School is 3:15 p.m. It is a neighborhood school, and most of the children are in walking distance of the school from their homes.

Police say they are recommending charges against the man to the Kenosha County Attorney's Office.

No one was injured in this incident.
