Milwaukee Co. golf courses to hold PGA Junior Championship

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Wisconsin PGA will move its Junior Championship to Milwaukee County golf courses this summer.

The 2013 PGA Junior Championship Tournament will be held on June 25th and 26th at the Brown Deer Golf Course and Dretzka Park Golf Course. The tournament was held in Madison for the past 22 years.

In a news release issued Wednesday, January 16th, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele said, “We’re excited to host the largest junior golf tournament in the state and bring in over 400 junior golfers and families to Milwaukee County. The event will bring in tens of thousands of dollars of revenue and showcase our first-class golf facilities.”

Brown Deer Park Golf Course is the former home of the Greater Milwaukee Open professional golf tournament. Milwaukee County has 15 courses ranging from par-3 layouts to tournament-caliber venues – all run by the Milwaukee County Parks system.
