Batty day at the BC includes a Golden Eagles win over the Friars

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Despite one of the strangest days in the history of the BMO Harris Bradley Center, the Marquette Golden Eagles soared past the Providence Friars 81-71 Saturday afternoon.

However, it wasn't Junior Cadougan's team high 15 points or Vander Blue's 13 that stood out in the game. Instead, it was the 4 different incidents that stopped play and had players, referees and even broadcasters running for cover.

During the second half of the game, a bat appeared inside the arena leaving players scrambling for cover or, in one case, falling on his backside.

The bat flew around, dodging towels players were throwing in the air to catch it. At one point the arena's light's were turned off in hopes of catching the bat. Yet, that never happened.

The stoppage of play seemed to stop any momentum the Golden Eagles had and allowed the Friars to get within 6 points.

In the end, Marquette held them off improving to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in the Big East. On Monday, the Golden Eagles will host South Florida. No word yet if the bat will make an encore appearance.
