Brown Deer High School locked down twice on Tuesday

BROWN DEER (WITI) -- Brown Deer High School was temporarily locked down twice on Tuesday, January 29th.

According to the Brown Deer School District, the first lockdown, which began at 9:35 a.m. was prompted by a student making a remark in the presence of a staff member that there was a gun in the school.

The lockdown was then initiated per the District's safety protocol.

Police were called to the scene to investigate the threat and conduct a thorough search of the building and premises. No weapon was found.

By 10:15 a.m., the lockdown was lifted and students were back in class.

Later Tuesday afternoon, just before 3:00 p.m., the school was again placed on lockdown after police responded to a report of possible shots fired in the 8000 block of N. 60th Street -- near the school.

This lockdown also included the Brown Deer Middle School and Dean Elementary School.

All schools were released from their lockdown at 3:30 p.m.

There was no evidence on the scene that this involved a firearm, but officials continue to investigate.
