Church members gather to remember Evon Young

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A vigil was held at 52nd and Congress on Tuesday morning, January 29th to remember Evon Young. The vigil was organized by Milwaukee Inner-city Congregations Allied for Hope or MICAH.

Police say 22-year-old Young was beaten and killed nearly four weeks ago. They believe the body of Young was placed in a dumpster near 49th and Hampton back in early January, before it was set on fire. The body was later determined to be in a landfill in Menomonee Falls. Crews are now sifting through tons of debris to find Young's remains.

On Tuesday morning, the church members gathered outside the home where Young lived. They prayed, sang and spoke about Young.

Another vigil is expected to be held at the same location at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The family of Young is expected to attend that vigil.
