Searchers scour landfill in search of Evon Young's body

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Searchers are working hard and fast -- trying to find the body of Milwaukee murder victim, Evon Young. They believe his body is buried in a Menomonee Falls landfill.

Police say Young was beaten and killed nearly four weeks ago. They believe the body of Young was placed in a dumpster near 49th and Hampton back in early January, before it was set on fire. The body was later determined to be in a landfill.

On Tuesday, January 29th, the Milwaukee Police Department released video of the search for Young's body at the landfill.

Jeanne Frost is one of the people doing the searching with her specially-trained dog, Trixie. Trixie is a cadaver dog; one of two at the landfill. FOX6's Myra Sanchick spoke with Frost by phone as she continued the search in knee-deep trash.

"Unfortunately in a landfill setting, there's all sorts of things decomposing. So we work as hard as we can, scoop by scoop," said Frost.

Frost is a retired police officer from Waupun who is driving to the landfill to volunteer each day. She says so far, the search has been difficult with a few hits that haven't panned out.

"I've come across a couple bags of medical waste kind of stuff. That's to be expected," said Frost.

In the meantime, the search teams are working to try to accomplish much Tuesday before the temperatures drop.

Frost says she's doing this to hopefully bring some type of closure for the victim's family and bring in more evidence for the case.

The other dog at the landfill is a giant schnauzer owned and trained by another retired police officer.
