Woman found dead inside ice shanty on Lake Winnebago

CALUMET COUNTY (WITI) -- Calumet County officials have identified a woman who was found dead in an ice shanty on Lake Winnebago Saturday, February 2nd.

They say Chilton residents Sara Meyer, 31, and Travis Duchow, 37, were found unresponsive in the shelter on Lake Winnebago.

Calumet County authorities say they received a report of a medical call approximately half a mile off Ecker Lakeland Drive around 4 p.m.

Officials say Meyer was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's department has not said how she died.

Duchow was flown to Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah, and later taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Hospital officials said Sunday he was treated and released.

Sheriff's officials, along with the Calumet County Medical Examiners office, are continuing their investigation.

An autopsy on Meyer is scheduled for Monday. First responders said they don't believe her death is suspicious.
