Andrew Christensen of Trevor charged with possession of child porn

MADISON (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Department of Justice has announced Andrew Christensen of Trevor has been charged with six count of possession of child pornography following an operation involving the DOJ and the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department in Internet Crimes Against Children.

On January 31st, special agents with the DOJ and deputies from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant at Christensen's home in Trevor -- a home he reportedly shared with his grandmother.

On February 1st, Christensen was charged with six counts of Possession of Child Pornography -- a felony.

According to the criminal complaint, on January 31st, during the execution of the search warrant, a forensic preview of a computer hard drive belonging to the suspect uncovered videos consistent with child pornography.

According to the criminal complaint, when asked by agents if Christensen knew why they were at this home, he indicated he knew why, stating agents were there “because he was downloading and looking at images of ‘bad things’ on the computer.”

All of the evidence seems to indicate that he was a consumer only not a distributor or a funnel providing more creating these images

Burgoyne says his office has seen a steady increase in these types of cases in the past few years, but that doesn't make dealing with them any easier.

"There's a greater awareness of what's going on in the law-enforcement community. I know everyone in prosecution everyone in this office certainly finds that very disturbing," Kenosha Assistant District Attorney Andrew Burgoyne said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 20th at 8:30 am in Kenosha County Circuit Court.
