Stan's Fit For Your Feet holds "Share-A-Pair" Shoe Drive

GLENDALE (WITI) -- They're the main source of protection for your feet especially during the cold winter months.

But many of those who frequently visit the homeless day shelter, Repairers of the Breach, are in desperate need of shoes.

"Often our people, their feet take such a beating because they walk long distances in all kinds of weather, exposed to the weather quite a bit," says Repairers of the Breach Co-Founder and Executive Director MacCanon Brown.

It was 7 years ago when Stan's Fit For Your Feet began the "Share-A-Pair" Shoe Drive.

"Everyone needs great shoes, to be functional, to walk, to work, and to protect your feet. And we felt it was important to provide shoes for people who don`t have good footwear," says Stan's Fit For Your Feet President Jim Sajdak.

The shoe store collects new or gently used shoes year round and donates them to local and international charities.

"We`re looking for men`s, women`s, and children`s, work shoes, dress shoes, back to school shoes, anything that will help the individuals that have a need for that," says Sajdak.

But this month, customers who donate shoes will get a $10 gift card to use at any Stan's Fit For Your Feet or New Balance locations.

Just one more reason to clean out your closet.

"It`s great and it`s just nice to know that the shoes that still have some life left in them will go to someone who really needs them," says Andrea Desrude as she made a shoe donation.

And the people receiving the shoes are more than grateful.

"It`s really a miracle, it`s really a wonderful thing," says Brown.

It's a simple act that can make a huge difference in the lives of those in need.

People can drop off their new or gently used shoes Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at any of the "Share-A-Pair" collection bins at Stan’s Brookfield store, in The Plaza at 17155 W. Bluemound Road, Stan’s Glendale store across from Bay Shore Town Center at 505 W. Silver Spring Drive and Stan’s Greenfield store in the Layton Plaza at 7405 W. Layton Ave.

Milwaukee’s New Balance Stores, which are owned and operated by Stan’s, will also be collecting shoes at their Brookfield Store, 17155 W. Bluemound Road, Suite A and in their Greenfield store at 7411 W. Layton Ave. during the same business hours.
