Mass Monday night in honor of Pope Benedict XVI

MILWAUKEE (WITI) – A mass was held in West Bend on Monday evening, February 11th in support of Pope Benedict XVI after he announced his retirement Monday morning.

Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Parish offered the Mass at 6:30 p.m. at 1025 S. 7th Avenue, West Bend.

The parish family invited everyone to join them in prayer for the Universal Church, as the church prepares for a conclave and conclude the current papacy.

Monday night's original Mass intention at Saint Frances Cabrini was the World Day for the Sick. However, in light of the news of Pope Benedict's impending resignation, the parish family adjusted the intention and emphasis of the Mass.

The evening began with a rosary at 6:10 p.m. The Mass closed by offering a blessing for Pastoral Care ministers, as originally planned. Then, church officials administered the sacrament of the anointing of the sick to anyone in need, after Mass.
