MILWAUKEE (WITI) — 22-year-old Kenneath Harris of Milwaukee faces 11 counts of armed robbery, two counts of burglary, one count of attempted robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of fleeing a traffic officer. This, after he allegedly committed a rash of armed robberies throughout the Milwaukee area.

According to the criminal complaint, Harris allegedly committed a rash of armed robberies from November to February. According to police, Harris would display a gun and demand personal items from victims while they were in or around their vehicle.

The criminal complaint against Harris indicates that he would approach unsuspecting victims with a gun and demand their purse, wallet, cell phone, vehicle keys and other personal items. Once Harris received the items, he would flee the scene on foot, or steal the victim’s vehicle.

A high-speed chase on February 3rd led to Harris’ arrest. According to police, officers observed a stolen Honda Accord on W. Capitol Drive around 8 p.m. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

During the pursuit, officers lost sight of the vehicle for a short time. When officials caught up with the vehicle, they found it empty, but still running, on N. 76th Street. Following the incident, officers executed a search warrant for a residence in the area, and found Harris, along with evidence connecting him to multiple armed robberies.

According to the criminal complaint, Harris told police he committed the crimes because “he owns someone money and if he does not pay them back, they are going to hurt him.”
