Police investigate after body found in trash bag near 63rd & Kaul

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are working to identity the human remains discovered in a trash bag next to a dumpster on the city's north side Sunday evening, February 17th.

According to police, the body was found in a trash bag behind an apartment building near 63rd and Kaul shortly after 4 p.m. by an area resident.

Neighbors tell FOX6 News that a woman discovered the remains, which were wrapped in a sheet, while taking out the trash.

Police have not yet determined whether the body is that of a male or female.

The woman who discovered the body reported it to officials as a skeleton.

Police say the investigation is ongoing -- and they say they do believe this is a suspicious death.

An autopsy will be conducted Monday, February 18th to positively identity the body and determine the cause of death.
