Milwaukee man sentenced for Medicaid fraud

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Joseph Roberts, the Milwaukee man charged for Medicaid fraud in connection with the operation of a specialized medical vehicle, was sentenced to 60 days in the House of Corrections and placed on one year probation Friday, March 1st.

On Thursday, December 20th Joseph Roberts and his wife Tracy Roberts were each convicted of party to the crime of medical assistance fraud for their respective roles in the operation of Community Transportation, LLC.

Tracy Roberts was placed on probation for one year.

According to the criminal complaint, Tracy Roberts, a registered agent and owner of Community Transportation, LLC, and certified Medicaid provider, illegally filed claims with the Wisconsin Medicaid for reimbursement.

The complaint alleges that Tracy Roberts filed claims with Wisconsin Medicaid for reimbursement for transportation services provided by Joseph Roberts, a man who had been placed on the federal exclusion list in 2008 due to prior convictions of Medicaid fraud.

Officials say all persons listed on the federal exclusions list are prohibited from working for any certified Medicaid provider.
