Poindexter sentenced to time in House of Correction

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee County judge sentenced Michael Poindexter to serve 85 days in the House of Correction.

Poindexter pleaded guilty to making threats via social media that led to the closure of the Marcia P. Coggs Center in downtown Milwaukee in November 2012. The threats were reportedly aimed at the area of 12th and Vliet.

The criminal complaint indicates “Michael Williams’” Facebook page had a listed email address using Poindexter’s name. Police located Poindexter at the Milwaukee Public Library, and he reportedly admitted to making the threats. However, Poindexter told police he never intended to shoot anyone.

Poindexter told police he was upset with the woman to whom he had made the threats after she was reportedly allowing others to see his Facebook comments and others were reportedly “making fun of him.”
