Betty Brinn Children's Museum opens new Harley-Davidson exhibit

MILWAUKE (WITI) -- Harley's are no longer just for adults! Now, kids have the chance to ride like the wind.

"I`m like pretending to ride this motorcycle and I think it`s like totally awesome!" nine-year-old Joshua Hardin said.

Betty Brinn Children's Museum just opened its newest exhibit "Hands-On Harley-Davidson."

It was all made possible by a grant from the Harley-Davidson Foundation.

"It`s really important to Harley-Davidson to give back to the community where we work and where our employees live," Harley-Davidson Motor Company Director of External Communications Maripat Blakenheim said.

This experience also supports science, technology, engineering and math -- or STEM education.

"Kids can use their imagination and really customize their own bike with motor parts and accessories. What that is really doing is helping kids match and sort and that`s really a pre-math skill," Betty Brinn Advancement Director Kristen Adams said.

Then kids can hop on a bike and take a virtual ride on scenic routes in different countries.

"We have an interactive map, which touches on some geography where kids are learning about different continents and are looking at different places around the world and different rides they can experience," Adams said.

There's no doubt these children had fun as they suited up in their helmets and leather vests and let their imaginations go.

"It`s neat that you can change the seats, the license plates, the mirrors," 12-year-old Justin Hutt said.

"I think this would be like the best place to go to have fun," Joshua said.

"Hands-On Harley-Davidson" is a permanent exhibit, so kids can go back as often as they'd like.
