Woman accused of assaulting nurse at Racine hospital

Heather Erickson

RACINE (WITI) -- 39-year-old Heather Erickson is accused of assaulting a nurse who cared for her at a Racine hospital on Saturday, March 2nd.

Erickson is charged with one count of battery to hospital personnel and one count of disorderly conduct.

The criminal complaint against Erickson indicates she was being discharged from St. Mary's Medical Center in Racine on Saturday. When she was asked to leave, Erickson indicated she was not happy with her service at the hospital and lunged at the nurse who had been caring for her.

The complaint indicates Erickson ripped the nurse's shirt and scratched her neck and shoulder area.

When police arrived on the scene, two separate police officers drew their tasers and instructed Erickson to let the nurse go. When Erickson did not comply, they each deployed their tasers and Erickson eventually let go. She was immediately taken into custody.

The nurse was treated for bruises to her chest, neck and shoulder.

If convicted, Erickson faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
