Three in custody after shots fired near UW-Madison housing

MADISON (WITI) -- Three suspects were taken into custody Tuesday night, March 5th after reports of shots being fired near UW-Madison housing.

According to officials, UW Police received a number of calls reporting shots fired in the area of Eagle Heights/University Houses around 9:30 p.m.

Shell casings were found at the scene.

Police say by 9:36 p.m. officers made contact with a person of interest and two suspects were taken into custody while police began a search for a third person of interest.

Wisc Alerts were sent to the campus community at 9:58 p.m. advising of the situation and subsequent alerts contained a description of the person being sought.

The third person of interest was taken into custody at 11:29 p.m.

There have been no reported injuries.
