Officials respond to standoff in Waukesha on Sunday

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police officials on Sunday, March 10th responded to a standoff situation in the 2100 block of Kilps Drive.

Officials say they met a child at the residence who reported her parents were fighting.

In interviewing the 29-year-old wife, she reported that her 30-year-old husband was in the basement of the house with a handgun.

Officers immediately evacuated the four children and wife from the house and called in reinforcements.

All available officers, deputies from the Waukesha County Sheriffs Department and the Regional Bearcat Armored Vehicle responded to the residence.

Later, the 30-year-old suspect surrendered without incident.

This case is still being investigated and charges have not yet been referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney.
