Woman tased, now charged with battery by prisoner

Andrea Brown

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 26-year-old Andrea Brown faces a new charge of battery by prisoner for allegedly attacking another inmate at the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility on Monday, March 18th.

According to the criminal complaint against Brown, she was serving a sentence for operating while intoxicated (2nd offense). Brown was temporarily placed in a locked cell with another inmate around 9 p.m. on Monday. The complaint says Brown weighs roughly 300 pounds, the other inmate, 120 pounds.

The complaint indicates Brown "became upset for unknown reasons and grabbed (the inmate) by her neck and hair and started swinging (the inmate) around the cell." Brown apparently then shoved the other inmate's head into the toilet.

The complaint indicates Brown then stood over the other inmate while choking her. While doing so, Brown was apparently saying, "I'm going to kill you (expletive.)"

The complaint says a correctional officer banged on the cell, shouting for Brown to stop. Finally, an officer arrived who did have keys, the cell was opened. Officers struggled with and eventually got Brown off and away from the other inmate. The complaint says they had to use tasers in the process.

The victim suffered "pain, scratches, and a bite mark on her back that broke the skin."

If convicted, Brown faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines. She is due back in court on April 5th.
