Rally in West Milwaukee Sunday protests ending Sat. mail delivery

WEST MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The United States Postal Service has announced no more mail delivery on Saturdays beginning in August -- but one group is looking to change that.

The Wisconsin State Association of Letter Carriers led a rally Sunday afternoon, March 24th in West Milwaukee.

The group is protesting the announcement that the Postal Service will be shrinking -- no longer offering Saturday delivery.

This move is supposed to save the cash-strapped agency about $2 billion a year.

Organizer's of Sunday's event say Saturday mail is something people are used to.

"This is the kind of situation where people just expect their mail at their door everyday. And they really only miss it when it's actually gone. And we don't really want it to get to that point," Scott Van Derven said.

Similar rallies were held across the state and country on Sunday.
