Three injured in two crashes on State Highway 31 early Sunday morning

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Three people were injured in a crash that occurred just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, March 24th on WIS 31 at Old Green Bay Road near Kenosha.

Officials say a Toytoa was headed west on Old Green Bay Road, while a GMC was headed north on State Highway 31.

Officials say traffic traveling on Old Green Bay Road must yield to vehicles traveling on State Highway 31.

The Toyota entered the northbound lanes of State Highway 31 and was struck on its drivers side by the front of the GMC.

Both vehicles came to their final resting location in the southbound lanes of State Highway 31.

Officials say the driver of the Toyota was transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the GMC was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officials say it is unclear at this time whether either driver was impaired at the time of the crash.

A secondary crash occurred later, involving the GMC, Saturn and Chevrolet.

Officials say the driver of the GMC had exited his vehicle, and the driver of the Chevrolet parked his vehicle near the northwest corner of the intersection, as a result of the initial crash.

This individual was attempting to render aid to the driver of the GMC and Toyota.

A Saturn traveling south on State Highway 31 struck the passenger side of the GMC, and the Saturn struck the Chevrolet during its post-impact movement.

Officials say the driver of the Saturn was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officials do not know whether the driver of the Saturn was impaired at the time of the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.
