Racine Equality Project files ethics complaint over cable access channel

RACINE (WITI) -- There is a battle going on in Racine and it's all over their cable access channel.

The Racine Equality Project on Thursday, March 28th filed an ethics complaint against Racine Mayor John Dickert and three members of his administration.

It deals with the management contract and bidding process of Cable Access Racine 25.

In the complaint, they say the "Skies Fall Media" won the contract, even though they have no apparent experience in TV productions or community access TV.

They're worried about who's behind that company, and what will be on the channel.

"We are concerned that there's probably going to be some censorship some changes made in what is covered. It's not that the mayor wants to project a positive image of the community -- we would like this as well, but the mayor should not be the person in charge of all of that information," Dr. Ken Yorgan with the Racine Equality Project said.

The group who filed the complaint is hoping the bidding process will be re-opened.
